The kinds of roles we hire for
Merion is not always recruiting for every role type at once. These are the categories we hire across — read about each one, then register your interest and tell us where you fit.
Important: This page describes role types, not current job openings. Merion does not publish fake listings. Specific opportunities are communicated to candidates who have registered interest and whose background matches an active requirement. Register your interest here.
Collections & Recovery Specialists
Recovery specialists manage a portfolio of commercial accounts from referral through to resolution. The role involves written and telephone contact with debtors, negotiation of payment arrangements and settlements, full documentation of every interaction, and escalation of accounts that require pre-legal action.
Most commercial debts are not disputes — they are a cash-flow problem or an account that has slipped down the priority list. Recovery specialists at Merion know that the right approach, applied consistently, resolves the large majority without conflict.
Experience in debt collection, credit control, customer service, or a related field is preferred. A current mercantile agent's licence, or eligibility to obtain one, is required for certain state jurisdictions.
Skills this role suits
- Telephone and written negotiation
- Methodical case management
- Payment arrangement structuring
- Escalation judgement
- Regulatory compliance
Suited to: Calm under pressure; organised; experienced in credit control, debt collection, or a related field. Mercantile agent licensing may be required in some states.
Register interestClient Relationship Managers
Client relationship managers are the primary contact for a portfolio of creditor clients — typically businesses that have referred overdue accounts to Merion for recovery. The role involves onboarding new clients, managing referral quality, communicating outcomes, overseeing remittance and financial reporting, and identifying upstream improvements to each client's credit control processes.
This is a commercially engaged role. The right person understands that clients are running businesses, not just managing debts, and communicates accordingly — accurately, promptly, and without jargon.
Skills this role suits
- Relationship management
- Onboarding and reporting
- Commercial acumen
- Oral and written communication
- Attention to detail
Suited to: Organised and commercially minded; thrives on honest, reliable relationships; enjoys helping clients understand and improve their credit position.
Register interestLegal & Compliance
Legal and compliance roles at Merion cover the end of the recovery spectrum where standard collection activity has not resolved an account — and the steps required to take a matter further. This includes pre-legal file preparation, liaison with external legal practitioners, management of disputes and complaints, and oversight of the firm's compliance obligations.
Merion operates under the ACCC and ASIC joint debt collection guideline, the Australian Privacy Principles, and applicable state licensing requirements. Compliance is not a box-ticking exercise here — it is embedded in every process.
Skills this role suits
- Regulatory frameworks (ACCC/ASIC guideline, APP)
- Pre-legal file preparation
- Legal practitioner coordination
- Policy development
- Risk identification
Suited to: Paralegals, compliance officers, or solicitors with experience in debt collection, financial services, or a related regulatory environment.
Register interestOperations
Operations roles at Merion support the efficient flow of accounts, documentation, and financial data through the business. This includes portal and CRM administration, bulk account import and processing, client reporting, payment processing support, and process improvement work.
Operations is an entry-level pathway into the broader business for candidates who are precise, reliable, and interested in understanding how commercial recovery works from the inside.
Skills this role suits
- Process design and improvement
- Data and reporting
- Administration and workflow
- CRM and platform management
- Cross-team coordination
Suited to: Detail-oriented; process-minded; comfortable with data and case management systems; reliable under volume.
Register interestEngineering & Product
Merion's platform is purpose-built: a CRM, secure client portal, debtor-facing payment and communication tools, AI-assisted drafting, and reporting infrastructure. Engineering and product roles work across all of it.
The team is small, which means genuine ownership of systems, close collaboration with the operations and recovery teams, and significant influence over how the product evolves. Compliance and security are first-class concerns — the platform handles sensitive financial and personal data, and every person on the engineering team understands why that matters.
Skills this role suits
- Web application development
- API design
- Product thinking
- Security and data handling
- Collaboration with non-technical teams
Suited to: Engineers and product people who want to build tools that solve real operational problems — and who take compliance and data security seriously.
