Why Merion
What it is like to work here, what the firm stands for, and why the compliance-first approach matters.
The mission
Merion exists to get Australian businesses paid what they are owed — without the tactics that give debt collection a poor reputation. Every account we handle is managed firmly but fairly: factual, compliant contact that resolves the large majority of debts without conflict.
That mission is not marketing copy. It shapes the tools we build, the training we invest in, and the kind of people we hire. If you believe that doing work well and doing it ethically are the same thing, you will fit here.
The work itself
Commercial debt recovery is a specialist field. The volume of accounts moving through the firm, the legal frameworks governing every contact, and the need to represent clients accurately while treating debtors fairly — all of that requires people who are genuinely good at their role.
We deal with real commercial situations: businesses that need cash to operate, and debtors who often have a genuine reason for falling behind. Getting the outcome right — for both sides — takes careful judgement, clear communication, and consistent process.
Compliance-first means something here
Merion operates within the ACCC and ASIC joint debt collection guideline, the Australian Privacy Principles, and all applicable state licensing requirements. We are members of the Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM) and apply the Institute's code of professional conduct across every recovery activity.
This is not a compliance-light environment. Every person on the team is expected to understand the rules that govern the work, apply them consistently, and raise it when something does not look right. We publish our full regulatory position on our Trust & Compliance site.
Growth and development
Merion has been operating since February 2025 and is growing. That means there are genuine opportunities to take on more responsibility, learn across the business, and build skills that are difficult to acquire in larger, more siloed organisations.
We invest in the people who join us: AICM membership and training where relevant, clear processes that reduce friction and rework, and a platform built to support the team rather than create administration.
Transparent by design
Every account referred to Merion is tracked through a purpose-built case management system that gives clients real-time visibility of every action, note, and payment. The same transparency applies inside the firm — we communicate directly, document decisions, and do not hide problems.
A note on size
We are a growth-stage business, not a large corporation. That means less bureaucracy, closer involvement with real outcomes, and more direct access to decisions — but also that every person on the team carries genuine responsibility. We hire for reliability and judgement, not just skill.
