Operations Analyst
Supporting the efficient flow of accounts, documentation, and financial data through the business — and the entry point for candidates who want to understand commercial debt recovery from the inside.
What the role involves
Operations roles at Merion keep the business running accurately. Accounts referred by clients need to be imported, verified, and allocated correctly. Documentation needs to be checked and filed. Client reports need to be prepared and distributed. Payments need to be matched, reconciled, and remitted. None of this is glamorous, but all of it is important — errors at the operations level create downstream problems in collections, client management, and compliance.
Day-to-day work spans several areas. Portal and CRM administration ensures the platform reflects accurate, current information for every account. Bulk account import and processing handles the high-volume intake that comes with new client referrals. Client reporting — account statements, portfolio summaries, remittance schedules — requires precision and reliability. Payment processing support ensures that debtor payments are correctly applied and that client remittances are accurate to the cent.
Process improvement is a genuine part of the role, not an afterthought. Operations analysts who identify inefficiencies, document them clearly, and propose practical solutions are valuable — particularly in a growing firm where processes are not yet fully mature. The person who maps a manual process, spots the error-prone step, and recommends a fix is contributing something real.
The skills this role requires
Data entry and verification is the foundation. Volume work with low error tolerance requires focus and method — the kind of person who checks their own work as a matter of habit, not because they have been asked to. Accuracy here is not a standard to aspire to; it is the baseline.
Familiarity with CRM systems and operational platforms comes quickly on the job, but a general comfort with digital tools — structured data, process flows, filter and search logic — means the learning curve is shorter. Client reporting requires clear written communication: a report that is accurate but unreadable has not done its job.
Workflow design — at even a basic level — is useful. Being able to describe a process step by step, identify where things can go wrong, and suggest a better sequence is a skill that translates directly to operations improvement work.
This as an entry point
Operations is the role type at Merion that is most accessible to candidates who are early in their career or moving from an adjacent field. It is an honest entry point: the work is real, the expectations are clear, and the exposure to the broader business — collections, client management, compliance, engineering — is genuine. People who start in operations and develop well have a clear path into other parts of the firm.
That pathway is not automatic, and it is not promised. What it does mean is that Merion prefers to promote from within when it can, and operations is where candidates who want to grow into the business often start.
